Horizontal bed-joint reinforcement
In situations where masonry has cracked and failed, the Helifix Helibeam System provides horizontal bed-joint reinforcement, which avoids the need to take down and rebuild. This system uses stainless steel helical bars that have high tensile strength, together with cementitious, thixotropic grout, that bonds the bar to the masonry.
Bed joint reinforcement, or masonry beaming, ties the masonry together, and creates deep masonry beams which redistribute the structural loads. Where necessary, other helical ties and fixings can be used to provide crack stitching, lateral and vertical restraint to complete the system. It’s a system that is applicable to all types of masonry structures, be they brick, block or stone.
The Helibeam System offers a structurally sound alternative, at significantly less cost and stress, than underpinning and other traditional repair methods. Overall disturbance to the ground, building and occupants are considerably reduced, and after repointing and making good, the building is left virtually unmarked.
