Micro Piles Used to Cure Subsidence on Residential Property
The Problem
ASRS investigated the cracking that occurred to the flank and rear elevation to this residential property in Bristol. ASRS provided a full Soil Investigation and drain survey to determine the cause of the movement. Our clients were looking for a permanent solution to repair the cracking and with the Soil investigation showing that rock was situated at 3m deep. ASRS had to devise and implement a scheme that would restore the structural integrity as quickly as possible without the need for the tenant to move out of the. ASRS engineers and surveyors came up with a full solution that was backed up with a 10 year indemnified guarantee.
The Solution
To restrain any further movement 8 screw down chance Micro-piles were installed at 1.5m centres to a depth of 3m and the required torques were achieved. The drains were also moved and re lined as a precaution as the drain survey showed no signs of leakage. Installation is simple with the use of mobile handheld hydraulic equipment. In conjunction with the chance piles Helifix Helibeams were created deep in the masonry to distribute the structural loads. Whilst the piles were being installed building control passed the specification and designs.
The pathways were reinstated and the works only took 5 days to complete.
