Lateral Restraint Repairs in Conservation Area
ASRS were called in by a local structural engineer to provide a cost effective solution where stepped vertical cracking and bowing had occurred to the property, our remit from the engineer was to design a specification to cure the structural issues but also being in a conservation area restore the areas of cracking back to its original glory using our brick tinting system
The proposed remedial scheme that ASRS designed was to restore the structural integrity of the masonry by the introduction of Helifix masonry beams installed laterally to distribute the structural loads. Additionally, Helifix Bow Ties, Cem Ties and Dry fix pinning ties installed to provide lateral restraint by means of connecting the external masonry back to the internal masonry, first floor joists and ceiling joists. This completed the structural diaphragm of the affected areas of the superstructure, thus offering substantial resistance to further cracking or outward movement.
The Helifix system was used to provide a concealed aesthetically pleasing finish and restore the building back to its original grandeur.
Once completed ASRS provided a10 year insurance backed indemnified guarantee.
